What we keep, and why.

Plain language, no fine print. Last updated October 17, 2026.

What we collect

When you join the list, we keep your email address and, if you give it, your first name. We also note the date you signed up, the page you signed up on, and the exact sentence you agreed to.

If you create a flight deck account, we also keep your email address and a hashed password (held by Amazon Cognito; we never see the password), the callsign and certificate name you choose, your time zone, and your training record: the briefings you finish, your simulator answers and scores, fuel, patches and any certificates. Your certificate's public page shows only the name you chose for it, the mission and the date.

That's it. We don't use tracking cookies, ad pixels or analytics scripts on this site. The fonts load from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address the way any website you visit does.

Why we collect it

To email you when a new Lunar Academy lesson or cheat sheet comes out. Every email has a way to unsubscribe.

For account holders, to run your flight deck: signing you in, saving your progress and scores, and issuing certificates. Account emails are only the ones you ask for, like your launch code and password resets. Your browser keeps a sign-in token so you stay signed in on that device.

Where it's kept

Your details are stored encrypted in Amazon Web Services, in the United States. Only Lunar Engineering can read them.

Who we share it with

Nobody. We never sell, rent or trade your information. Our emails are sent through Amazon's email service (AWS), which handles them only to deliver them.

Confirming and unsubscribing

After you sign up we send one email asking you to confirm. If you don't confirm, we don't email you again. Every email has an unsubscribe link that works with one click.

Getting removed

Account holders can delete their account themselves in Settings on the flight deck. That erases the account, training record and certificates right away.

Or email matt@lunareng.com from the address you signed up with and ask to be removed. We'll delete your details and confirm by reply. Encrypted backups roll off within 35 days. You can also ask what we hold about you, and we'll tell you.
